Top pair, top kicker vs. all in bet

I hold AK on the button and raise 5x BB. Only caller is in early position. Flop comes:

A 6 2 rainbow.

He bets min, I raise him 4x that. He goes all-in. This is about 3/4 of my stack, and I'm in about 10th chip position out of 150 left. Call or fold it.....





I decided to call, putting him on AQ, AJ, my AK or possibly A2 or A6. In that case, I still have outs, but I'm hoping I won't need to catch anything to win this one. Looks like I'm right, he flips A2 for two pair. Well, I still have some outs. A king, six, or runner runner pair will give me a win. Unfortunately, I didn't catch any of these and I'm left with a small stack, and I go out a few hands later on another AK, this time all-in preflop against queens.

I realize this was probably not a good call because I was risking too much, but I truly thought I held the best hand. So, what do you guys think?

Tough one! I probably would have done the same. Depends on your opponent, though. If he is a "player" I would have been all in in a heartbeat. If he is a "rock", well, I might decide survival is the better part of valor and give him the pot. Was his A2 suited? Some players play A anything, even from an early position. If he is that kind of player, you have to worry about the two pair scenario a little more. Or trips. Really tough to fold AK when it pairs on the flop.
