Tough spot?
Table was generally loose/passive preflop.
reno111 was a recent arrival at the table and had been quiet - no reads.
coldbeer plz had been loose with preflop calls but frequently aggressive postflop.
I found myself unsure how to play this situation so could definitely use some advice.
Does anyone push preflop after the flat call?
Thoughts on the postflop check?

I absolutely and 100% push preflop after the action is back to me. Anything else is asking for trouble, as you found out.
As played, unless he's an idiot big enough to be a dry side pot without AT LEAST a King, you are probably not leading. However, the pot is like 6500 and you have to call 1000, so assuming he doesn't already have the nut straight, you are getting somewhat attractive pot odds to call.
I might actually suggest pushing here, as it might be your best chance to win, and might even get this guy off a King and let you go heads up with a pair + straight draw that is likely best. However, given it's a $4 donk-and-go, it's doubtful he will throw away a King here.
This is such a gross situation to be in against a guy who probably will not fold a King. It's really gross because I can make a case for folding, calling, or pushing, but I think calling is by far your worst option.

This sucks to have a 0 side pot. I agree with the preflop push, but as played, cbet this flop and make it enough to get the rest of your stack in if you get raised. Villain is unlikely to let go of even a weak K, but he could also be here with QJ, a big flush and inside st8 draw Ahxh, AhTo or something else random. Lead this flop and mentally commit to getting it allin.

Thanks for the advice, I will push this preflop in future. My thinking was that by calling I'd still be able to get away from an ugly flop with some vestige of a stack. As it turned out, I found this flop, against this opponent, a bit too tempting.
Although I didn't hate this flop, I didn't c-bet because:
- I felt a decent c-bet would have committed me
- with the oesd I wanted to see another card
- I often see pots checked down when one or more players is all-in
Of course, when he bet I immediately regretted not c-betting, not that it would have mattered in this instance...
