What are the odds worth playing?

Postby out_at_sea » Fri Apr 09, 2004 2:12 pm GMT

Hi everyone,

I am relatively new to the poker world and I try to get as much inof as I can by surfing the web and playing on line.

My question is regarding odds.....When is it worthwhile playing a hand? What are the best odds? Would 4:1 be the cut off line?

Thanks

Odds worth playing?? It really depends on many things. Firstly, how much money is in the pot compared to how much you must bet/call (pot odds). If you miss you draw how much will you have to invest to continue (implied odds). How many people are playing? What hands do you put your opponents on? It all depends. There is no "cut off line." I only play starting hands that I feel comfortable with. You cannot play if you are uncomfortable. Odds change from hand to hand and can be completly thrown out depending on your opponenets. Play the people and the cards and focus only on odds when you must.
