What do you do when you cant get a hand?
I was wondering how you guys play when you can't get a hand, or when you do have a hand and the flop comes with nothing? This has been happening to me lately, i try to be pactiance. Blinds end up eating me up. I play with some people who seem to be so lucky. They play every hand and always catch something. I would love to ask a pro this question to see how they adjust. The thing that sucks about poker is sometimes it's not your fault that you lost. You have to get cards to win, you can't bluff any hand.

too often when you can't get cards you want to force yourself to play the mediocre ones... this only leads to bad play and losing money.

Keep folding and maybe loosen up a touch in late position if you feel the table is weak. I try to get the blinds once every round or two if I feel I can steal them. It's a crapshoot though.
I had that happen last night in both SnG's I was in on Ultimate Bet, I was doing OK, but the cards dried up worse than I'd seen in over a month and I just slipped away. Finally got a hand (5-5) had to go all in because of blinds, one guys calls with K-10x and flop comes down K-4-10. Blah.
That is the devil of poker though, just get back on the horse and hope you catch those cards next time.

Start paying very close attention to position, and take a few cheap flops from late position. If you aren't getting any respect for a bet, it's because you've been battered enough, either by losses or passivity, that subconciously or conciously, the other players know you are feeling a cold streak, so get in on a couple hands to remind them you're at the table. Just be prepared to let them go if nothing flops.
Also, do you call the open a lot?
