What does Passive/Aggressive mean?

I'm fairly new at poker. What does aggressive/passive? Loose/tight mean?

A 'tight/aggressive' player will play only a few hands but those he plays, he will bet strongly on. A loose player will play a high % of hands, often losing a lot of money in the process. A passive player is like a tight player pretty much, they will play a low % of hands and those they play, they will not bet too strongly on.

Yeah, I'd say Geno nailed it. Aggression is pretty important in poker, remember that. When you get a good hand you need to attack you know? And if you do it well enough it will be hard for them to read when you are betting for value and when you are bluffing them. (betting for value is betting a good hand with really no deception) Being loose is not considered good generally. If you play every hand you will basically have to bluff EVERY hand to ensure you come out positive...not only would that be tremendously hard, if you are playing against intelligent players they would "get a read" on you and kill you!

So the best idea is to go...tight/aggressive. Play solid hands, and play them hard and well.
