What happened with my ace and 5 suited?

Postby darcy tucker » Thu Apr 29, 2004 3:14 pm GMT

I had an ace and 5 suited. The board read like this.

4,10,A,6,A

I split the pot with somebody else. Why did this happen. If somebody else had an ace they probably had a higher second card than me. Did they have an ace and a 5 as well?

An A5 A3 or A2 would all hold AAA 10 6 and split the pot.

Exactly what Dave said. You have to remember that in hold em' you are playing the best five cards and only the best five cards. Any other cards are completely irrelevant.

Thats dangerous. Having such a low kicker. This time you did get lucky but a lot of the time if he also has an ace he will have a bigger kicker. I learned my lesson before on trip aces with a crappy kicker.

If 3 different spades comes up on the flop and you hold a pocket ace of spades and a 2 of spades there is no way you can lose if it comes down to flushes right?

No I wouldn't either. I've lost with ace high flush a number of times but it's usually to a boat not the straight flush. Just thought I'd throw that in there.
