Which table given my Bankroll

Postby 1nutlft » Sat Jul 26, 2008 12:38 am GMT

I switched from AP to PS (mostly after finding this site). They gave me $5 and after two weeks, I am up to $60 (mostly playing SNGs, 1 and multi tables, gettin real lucky).

My questions is, what FL and NL tables should I be playing with my current bankroll?

Thanks in advance.

For limit games the bare minimum is 200BB (big bets) so for a .25/.50 game you would need 200x.5 = $100.

For NL the minimum is considered to be 20 buy-ins. Assuming a buy-in to be 100 big blinds you would need 20x(.5x100) = $1,000 for .25/.50.

However, these are what I would consider the absolute minimum, especially if you are fairly new to the game. I am personally more comfortable with 25-30 buy-ins for NL. Am not sure where my comfort level lies for limit as I haven't played a lot of it before now but I would guess it to be around 250-300BB.

I'd say you are rolled to play .10/.20 limit games and 0.01/0.02 NL.

Another debate a friend and I are having with NL is.... Do you buy-in for the max, or some lesser amount?

Always buy in for the max allowed.

It would be silly to buy in for $25 at a NL50 table. The first time someone pays off your nut flush, you'll understand why.

i usually buy in for half max, i like playing a aggro short stack, i find it encourages action even when i play a tag game.

Personal preferences aside, you are really leaving a lot of money on the table.
