I think its ok, preflop you should have folded, but I see the SB defense. He should have raised to see where he stood on the folp, when he doesn't raise enough on the turn, you pretty much have to call.

Its classic over pair slow play gone wrong.

you played it badly

fold preflop. or at least raise if you really have to play your 97... dont limp and then call a raise out of position. this gets you nowhere

i'm probably folding the turn, he's repping a made hand for 3 rounds of betting, and apart from some funky bluff i cant see a hand we're beating.

I called the raise PF to defend, then hitting top pair was great especially with no raise, the turn I was on a flush draw and the full house possibility which is why I called on the turn. I do see where you guys are coming from though about folding.

Never ever ever open complete the small blind. Either raise or fold.

Raise with a wide range of hands, as well. Especially if the BB is not a loose player. Overall, I'm a pretty conservative player, but my steal attempt from the SB is 45%.

I agree with this play but...

Raise with a wide range of hands,

until recently on a poker after dark when Daniel Negreanue says that the SB is probably the most missed played position. Ive thought about it and it makes sense your out of position and raising, sometimes on rags. I like stealing here but I think twice now about the power of my hand when and if called by the big blind when your raising on mediocre hands OOP.
