Who's side are you on!

Postby jimmer » Thu Nov 06, 2008 10:20 am GMT

Pretty much outside our offices the road comes to a dead holt. This is because the whole area is being redeveloped. They put up a massive 8ft wooden fence around the building site and basically the road is no more.

So, I’m just coming back from lunch and there is this argument going on between a blind person and a delivery van which has parked across the pavement by the fence surrounding the building site.

The blind person says the vehicle is causing an obstruction and needs to be moved otherwise he is calling the police. The man with a van, says I don’t see the point in moving my van because you can only take another three paces forward before you need to turn around anyway (cause the road disappears). The delivery man said he is only going to be parked there for another few minutes anyway and the blind man knows the road is closed.

They both have an interesting argument. Yeah the man shouldn’t of parked on the pavement and is therefore breaking the law, but the blind guy can’t go any further anyway and seems to be making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Who’s side are you on and why?

Since the blind dude can only go three more paces, he is being an arse for the sake of it so I'll side with the van man for the first time ever!

The opinions at work were;
-Get the guy with the van to run the blind guy over-he will never know who did it!

-Get the guy with a van to convience the blind guy that it's actually a proper parking bay for delivery people-once again, the blind guy wouldn't be non the wiser!

-Stop arguing with the blind guy (and pretend you've walked off).

-Get the driver to tell the blind guy "If you want to report me thats fine". (Then give him the name and number of a rival delivery company.)

So, I think the general opinion is the blind man is making a fuss about nothing.

I like.

It doesn't seem as if anyone's right in this one. Even though the van driver is technically parked illegally, in reality he's not hurting anyone by his actions, and the blind guy is bitching just to bitch.

Too bad it happened now. In just a couple of months, the world will all be arm-in-arm singing kum-ba-yah after Obama takes over, and the van guy would offer a ride to the blind guy.

(P.S. that's for you, Dave. I couldn't think of any more hippie phrases to throw in there.)

If I am the guy in the van I try to explain if I have to go move the van then I am causing unimaginable harm to the environment by releasing extra unwanted exhaust fumes into the atmosphere.

see, you can't say the blind guy is making a fuss about nothing. He might need to get in contact with that fence to walk down it safely to the bus stop or something.

But I say lie because it's funnier.
