Who shows first?

Postby madonmikey » Thu Mar 18, 2004 11:54 am GMT

At my game the first guy to the left of the dealer shows first and then it goes around to his left, but is this always correct? Last night on the WPT I noticed that the first player to the left of the dealer checked and then the second player bet and the first player called, in this case it appeared to me that the second player showed his hand first and the first player mucked. Is this normal or did the second player just jump the gun?

Thanks,
Mike

I have read that in most cases the person who made the last bet or raise is to show first. In our home games I just do as you said and go first left of the dealer. Guess it just matters where you are playing.

I always do the person who bet. Or raised. Thats how it is at the casino i think. Atleast when 2 people almost get in a fight about flippping cards its always the one who bets that flips.

unless you have some sort of no-muck rule... i would think that the called player is the first to show. not sure if that's what y'all mean by "last to bet".

so if someone bets 100, and everyone calls (on the river), the guy who bet the 100 FIRST is the one who was called by everyone else and is the only one required to show his hand.

then, any player who can (or thinks they can...lol) beat that players hand is then required to show. at this point i would move in the direction of the deal starting from the called player... allowing those who called to show (and beat the called hand) or muck their hand.

:D

correct. if the first person to act checks and then you bet and i call, and the checker calls, then you would show your cards first since it is in effect, your hand that was called regardless of of what order we acted in.
