Who wins if BOTH have an A high Flush....

Postby m3racer » Thu Mar 11, 2004 9:11 pm GMT

If there is an Ace on the board and both players have a flush with that Ace, is the pot split automatically since they both have an A high flush? Or does the player with the next high card win the pot? Say one has A, K, Q, 8, 9 and the other has the A, 8, 9, 3, 4. Who wins??

whoever has the next highest card in the flush wins. if they are identical flushes, then it would be a split pot. player 1 would be the winner in your example.

what about a high card hand? if the A is on the board, and one person has a K and the other a Q... since the A is on the board... and both players have nothing but a high-card hand... would it be split or would the person with the K take the pot since they're holding the K even though the high card... the A... is on the board?

AK beat AQ. Always 5 cards. If there is tie for highest, go to second highest, if still tied go to third highest, if still tied go to fourth highest, if still tied to fifth high, if still tied then the pot is split. No preference is ever given to a card in hand as opposed to the board or vise versa. It is always the best 5 card hand that a player can make from a combination of the 2 hold cards plus the 5 boards cards.

Board: A, K, Q, J, 2
Player 1: 6,3
Player 2: 5,4

Player 1 wins with AKQJ6 vs AKQJ5

Knew it....guy on pokerstars.com was calling me a douch for saying that the higher 2nd card in the flush would win. He was goin all in with one heart praying for a flush since the A was on the board...said the pot would get split that way...WRONG. When i told him WRONG he called me names and was a little baby...

it always comes down to who can make the best 5 card hand. If you both have an A high, you would only split the pot if neither of you had a kicker that was higher than any of the other 5 cards on the board.
