Who wins in case two players have the same three of a kind
Hello There,
I haver a quick question. During a poker game last night, me and the other player on the table got the same "three of a kind" and the best kicker which was an Ace was on the table, and hence it was determinded that the pot has to be shared
here is the situation we were in
Player A - 8,K Player B - 8, 10
Cards on the Table - 8, 8, A,3,4
Now since both the players had an 8 and it was three of akind for both, we looked at the kicker and the argument was since the best kicker "A" was on the table, that would be the best card and the consensus was that the pot has to be shared by the two players
My point or rather my understanding is, they always look for the 5 best cards, and in this situation
Player A's best cards are - 8,8,8,A (on the table), K (in his hands)
Player B's best cards are - 8,8,8,A9on the table), 10 (in his hands)
So, the player A should win the pot and it should not be shared.
Any comments or suggestions?
Thanks a ton in advance

Welcome to the forum.
You are correct. It's the best 5 cards that count. Therefore 888AK is the best five cards and player A wins.
This is NOT a split pot situation.
