Who wins? Pair of 10's, Community Ace Kicker
Last night i was playing a game of Texas Hold 'em for fun, not cash, and myself and another player were the last 2 left. An argument erupted when after making our (rather large) bets, we both showed a similar hand, and there was confusion.
(Suits are irrelevant here i'm pretty sure.)
Player 1 holds a 10 and a 6.
Player 2 holds a 10 and a 5.
The community cards are a 10, an Ace, an 8, a 7, and a 3.
There are 2 possible outcomes here as far as i know, and here is where i need clarification. I found a quote from a rules site which states:
In my understanding, this means that both players have a hand of 10, 10, Ace, 8, 7, meaning they are equal. My opponent argued that because the card they had was 6, higher than my 5, that they won the pot.
Is it a split pot, or does player 1 win?
Thankyou in advance.

A player can use any combination so even if one card from his pocket cards and four of the community cards creates the best hand, it is fine.
