Does it matter if the person with JJ has a pair in the hand or does the two pair with A kicker beat the other persons hand?

The thing with poker is; to get better you need to put in the hours. Not only do you need to spend time at the tables, you need to spend time researching the subject, reading books, magazine articles and poker forums.

Luckily for you, your question doesn't involve hours of research to answer.

The quick answer, to your quick question, for someone who is waiting a response, is to visit the thread at the top of the beginners page (entitled "Please read before starting a new thread"). (Scenario 2 will answer your question).
Here:
poker-faq-please-read-before-starting-a-new-thread-t3459.html

Alternatively, just visit the beginners page (where you posted this question) and read one of the other posts which inevitably starts with the heading "Who wins?", "Please help" or "Whose right".

All-in-all, this should take around 3-5 minutes.

Because of the type of bloke i am, today I will chuck you a freebie. In your case; player 1 wins. (and with my hints, information and guidence above - not only should you be able to research the reasons why player 1 wins, but you will become a better poker player in general).

Welcome to the forum and if you have any other questions, (which after doing the research you are still unable to answer), please feel free to post and I'm sure the forum will be happy to help.

Once again, welcome to the forum.

Player 1 wins the pot since both players have the same hand (2 pairs) but the A kicker of the player 1 gives him the pot...

this is because 3 pairs dont beat 2 pairs since 3 pairs dont exist...

here is an example where the player 2 WILL WIN:

player 1: A 10
player 2: Q Q

Board: JJ KK 3

both have 2 pairs but the player 2 have better 2 pairs

Shane, you've got three pairs. You can't have six cards! You can't have six cards in a five-card game!
