Why no Royal Straight?
Hi all, I just started playing TH and noticed, at least in the PokerTH software I found, that there's no Royal Straight outcome, just a regular Straight. But there's a Flush and a Royal Flush, so why no Royal Straight?

A royal flush is Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten all the same suit so it is both a straight AND a flush. It just happens to be called a Royal Flush rather than a Royal Straight I suppose.

Right, Royal Flush = Royal Straight of the same suit. But a Royal Straight would be 10,J,Q,K,A of different suits. Why isn't that in the game?

Because it is not called a royal straight, it is just a straight or is called an Ace high straight or broadway straight. I have never heard it called a royal straight. I kind of like it. Sounds sexy.

I think I get it. if the odds of getting an Ace High straight are less than the odds of getting any other kind of straight, but still greater than the odds of getting a Flush, then there's no reason to give it a special name. It beats all other Straights, and loses to all other Flushes anyway. Hence, 'Ace High straight' is sufficient.

Not really got anything to do with odds, people just name things. A royal flush is just an A hi straight flush, someone gave it a nickname. Same with how someone gave the nickname of 88 as two snowmen or 33 two crabs.

I was brought up to believe the name for AKQJT of the same suit was a Royal Routine. This was in my Snap, Patience and Uno days.

Re: Why no Royal Straight?
A "Royal Straight" would just be a fancy name for a high Ace straight. A High Ace straight would be 10, J, Q, K, A but all different suits.
Its still a Straight, its just the best possible straight that you could get.
The situation wouldn't call for it to be given a special designation on its own. Just like how anyone could get a flush, but what's the probability of getting a 10, J, Q, K, and A all of the same suit.
Straight Ace is understood as the best possible straight so it wouldn't need to be further defined or specified.
All of this is in my opinion.

I thought it was called Royal Flush because its is harder to get a flush then a straight, and A high flush would be the best flush you can get, and it has the King, Queen, Jack in it and they are royalty hence the name royal.
