I dont like pot kills. But it does throw some exciting hands in there. Usually there will be someone raising w/ nothing trying to steal the blinds. It can make for some very large pots.

First of all, it's called a kill-pot, not a pot-kill. Secondly, in every casino I've played the extra blind in a 3/6 game would be 6 not 12. The reason they have these games is to add a little bit of excitement to the game. I can see that they are kind of stupid, but in general they're good for the better players. That's because poor players are usually the ones that win two pots in a row, meaning they're the ones that are posting the two bets. Kill-pots also give you a chance to manipulate other players. Technically you should play kill-pots exactly the same way you play every other hand, but since many players will play scared, and others love to bluff in these, you can really start "play the players" in these situations.

Note: If you don't like kill-pots, you don't have to play them.

Kill-pot does sound a lot better than pot kill. Pot kill sounds like what happens when you smoke a lot of dope than play poker and loose all your money :) Now that I know a little about them I feel pretty neutral towards kill-pots but it is just one of those nuances that makes newbies like myself find the game a tad esoteric.
