Why should Horse be the championship for the players?

Postby davepoker » Mon Oct 22, 2007 12:57 pm GMT

The $50,000 players event is Horse, but doesn't anyone feel that it is a bad format since it favors stud players.
Wouldn't it be better to take out razz and replace it with something like triple draw or some other game like badugi or lowball?
That would be a more balanced format for the holdem and omaha players. Even if there would be a complaint from other players, wouldnt it be fairer to have 2 stud games, 2 draw games, and 2 flop games?

Razz probably has more in common with Triple Draw or other lowball games than it does with Stud high, so I don't think it's that big a deal. I personally think lowball games are terrible tournament games, but of all of them, Razz is about the only one that's passable. Triple Draw tournaments are awful.

Plus I don't think it's a negative to favor Stud players, because among limit games, I think there's a lot more skill in Stud and Stud-8 than there is in Hold'em or ESPECIALLY in Omaha-8.
