wrong move?
So i played my second tourney last night and made it further than last time but not sure if i made the right call.
Im short stacked at my table after about an hour and half of play with about 1200 in chips. The blinds are 150 300 and the blinds are getting ready to go up again. Im big blinds and i catch a K Q off suite everyone folds a guy in middle position pushes with 500 and gets folded to me.
Knowing the blinds are going up i thought now was a good time to make a move and try to double up so i pushed all in he calls with a A Q off suite. I knew i was in trouble but can always hope for a King to fall. He catches an A on the flop and im heading home. I dont regret my move but that may be my in experienece.
What would you guys have done in that position. If i just flat call his 500 im pretty much pot comited after the flop. If i dont make a move im going to get blinded to death.

Don't get in this situation..
You don't want your M get that low. M = stack / blinds + ante
In general, when ever my Stack is close to 10XBB I change game. It becomes push or fold. Don't limp with any hand. Don't even complete from the SB. If you are in LP and its folded to you, you do not need a huge hand to push with. Most of the time any Ax or two face cards are good enough.
Most beginners mistake is not adjusting when their stack is too small.

I knew i was playing bad but didnt know how to change. I played tight most of the tourney. The guy to my right was bulling the table with his $500 chip (we start with one). I would have a hand i might possible limp in with or a standard 3x bb bet when they were low but i couldnt make a move because his bets were so over the top. I thought i would just try and play tight and outlast him but the blinds started to chip away at my stack.
I did call him one time when he pushed with his 500 i had KQ spade and caught 2 spades on the flop so i figured i had enough outs to beat him but i never caught my last spade and he had a set of jacks i believe.
I guess that was a bad call as well but im learning. This tourney is only once a month i wish i could find a smaller weekly game so i could get more practice.

a raise to 500 with blinds at 300 sounds incredibly weak, i dont mind the push there at all, esp since you have 4bb. Like someone said before, push mode with <10bb and Ax (id say unless in EP, you can wait a little). MP-LP-button, etc its a push every time.
Stay tight and play solid hands and you should be able to do well in that tourney.

Sorry that guy ended up going out before the blind made it up to 100. He was pushing 500 in when the blinds were 10 20. He tried to bluff on the river and got bust when i guy had a set of queens.
