WSOP LOWER BUY-IN
The world series of poker is a rich mans game, who can afford $10,000.00 for a buy-in to a tournament? There are MANY very good poker players in the world who cannot afford $10,000.00 to play at the WSOP. I think it would be a very good idea for the buy-in to be lowered to $1000.00 that way EVERYONE has a chance to play in the world series of poker! Of course there would be a lot more people signing up to play, it might even take a week just to get threw day one but at least everyone is getting a chance! If you agree with this PLEASE post a responce.

Nah, if anything it should go up.
The shear number of entrants proves it is acheiveable buy in for 'Mr Avearge'. People like Moneymaker spending $40 on a ticket also proves you don't need to risk your entire life earnings to play.
In all fairness, the amount of numbers who entere now a days seems to make it into a lottery.
I think the $25k horse event could soon be the 'real' ME-some people say it is already. I can also see the WSOP introducing a $50k buy in event within the next few years.

First, there are already tons of $1500 events at the WSOP
Second, like stated, you can win entry to main event through satellites. Sometimes even for free.
Third, if they lower the price, the prize wont be that life changing as it is now. To achieve the same price pool you'll need 100X more players. So if now the $10k event hosts around 5k players, to get the same price you'll want 50k players.
Fourth, Good players should be able to work $1000 into $10k in one year.

Surely the HORSE event is already a $50k buy-in.

Can't the rest of you guys read? Only responces (sic) which are in agreement should be posted.
On a more serious note, what Mr. Darling said: there are $1500 buy-in events at the World Series, or go the satellite route. The main event isn't the only event to play.

This.
Who cares if Joe Schmoe cannot afford it? Do we want to see him win the ME of the WSOP? He can play the smaller games and be happy with those.
If anything, I think the ME buy-in should be increased to $25K to weed out some of the crap.
