Amir was thrown into the spotlight when he final tabled the 2003 WSOP, Moneymaker's year. Amir first taught Ben Affleck how to play poker before Annie Duke took over that position. Amir once gave the following immortal quote on the subject of tournament poker, "You have to be willing to die in order to live." Amir died of complications with diabetes on January 8, 2010.
